The chore jacket was developed in the late nineteenth century in France as a tough and functional outerwear.
Materials & Care
Fabric made with 100% Cotton Corduroy.
Recycled fibre buttons are made in Italy.
The Somerset will be made by our family-run manufacturing partner based an hour north of Bucharest.
Gentle wash at 30C, and iron inside out on low. Do not bleach, tumble dry, or use softeners or TCE.
Sizing & Fit
The chore jacket has a unisex fit. Due to its boxy design, it can be worn both true and over-sized. Do size up if you want an over-sized look or space for a few extra layers.
Women’s sizing
The jacket is cut based on a man’s size. Following the size guide accordingly should allow for enough room to layer. For example, if you wear UK 6-8, size XS will allow a good fit over a jumper.
-
The female model is 5’4”/165cm and is wearing size Small.
The male model is 5’11”/180cm and is wearing size Medium.

Timeless design
is a chore.
Developed in the late nineteenth century in France to serve as a tough and functional outerwear, it was made from durable cotton drill or moleskin. The chore jacket quickly became a favourite amongst labourers, railroad workers, and farmers at the time.
Pockets full
of purpose.
The chore jacket's typical design includes large utilitarian pockets, pointed collars, tactile buttons, and is constructed to sit on the wearer's frame loosely. The spacious hip pockets were used to store everything, from tools to storage tins. Wearers also found it easy to roll their sleeves up during more demanding tasks. Due to its boxy, loose and slightly over-sized design, it was easy for early morning labourers to layer during the colder months.
100% natural materials.

The Somerset
Patch
The vision behind the design
We started the conversation with Mal in October last year. The brief was simple: To design a patch for the Somerset jacket based on his unique design language (see more on his Instagram) with an '80s look and feel'. Furthermore, the patch should illustrate a typical British countryside: rolling fields, sheep and a farmer in the foreground. The team is incredibly proud of the final result, and we thoroughly enjoyed working with Mal. We think that this will be a story you will be proud to share with others!
